Pueblo of Laguna St. Joseph Church Assessment

  • The Pueblo of Laguna is a federally recognized Native American Tribe near the city of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
  • The “Mission San José de la Laguna” was erected by the Spanish at the old pueblo (now Old Laguna) and finished around July 4, 1699. It is an early Pueblo style Mission constructed of field stone, adobe, mortar and plaster which is uncommon for this area.
  • The roof of St. Joseph Church had begun to leak, causing damage to some artwork and jeopardizing the structural integrity of the building. Recognizing the importance of protecting this historic structure, the Pueblo of Laguna prioritized assessing the roof to determine the source of the leak and identify any architectural or environmental factors affecting the mission.
  • Working with our A&E partners, Efficio developed a non-destructive, historically sensitive assessment plan designed to accurately assess the current status of the structure, identify any damage and their respective sources. Based on this data, Efficio supplied a report detailing the findings and provided a conceptual design to address these concerns.  The conceptual design will be used for Phase 2 of the project.
